Meet Our Team:

Dale Hummel

Dale was heavily involved with livestock from a young age. Both from the show side, as well as from the real world side of buying and selling commercial livestock. He participated on state and national winning FFA/4H livestock judging teams, representing the United States in the Royal Highland Contest in Edinburgh, Scotland. Dale attended Blackhawk East, then transferred to the University of Illinois where he received his BA degree in Animal Science and his MA degree in Ruminant Nutrition. He judged collegiately at both BHE and the U of I. Dr. Parrott offered him the coaching position at the U of I while attending graduate school. Upon completion of his graduate work Dale took the Animal Science Instructor/Livestock Judging Coach position at Joliet Junior College. In addition to animal science courses, he also teaches animal nutrition, animal genetics and live animal evaluation courses. He coached the nationally competitive livestock judging team at JJC for 12 years. Dale has judged livestock shows across the country, as well as internationally.

Holly Hummel

Holly grew up heavily involved in showing livestock as a youth. She also participated in many career development events in FFA, including livestock judging. She was on a state winning team that went on to win nationals and then represented the United States in the Royal Highland contest in Edinburgh, Scotland. She continued livestock judging on a collegiate level and afterwards has judged many livestock shows throughout the Midwest and West Coast. Holly has a BA degree in Public Relations, with a minor in Agriculture, from Illinois State University. She has spent the last ten years building an elite exotic cat breeding program, placing kittens all over the world. Together, she and Dale coach their counties 4H junior livestock judging team.

Craig has a similar background as Dale and Holly.  He has been involved with livestock, specifically cattle, his whole life.  He participated in livestock judging in 4H and FFA, as well as continuing with this talent through college.  He also represented the US at the Royal Highlands Contest with his 4H livestock judging team.  Craig attended Joliet Junior College, then the University of Illinois, receiving his BA degree in Animal Science.  Craig has been judging livestock shows throughout the Midwest for several years.  He has spent the past couple of summers as a part of the Hummel Livestock team.  This past May he joined us full-time.  He is in charge of daily operation, as well as our flush program and kidding.  We are extremely fortunate to have Craig as a part of our team.
